Use our SecureFX® client and VShell® server to provide secure file transfer instead of using FTP. Although FTP is still widely used and is broadly available on many client and server platforms, leaving an FTP port open on the firewall can be a serious vulnerability. When you use FTP, every bit of data you send and receive is sent in the clear, including your username and password.
Consider the advantages that using Secure Shell SFTP or FTP over TLS (FTPS) provides to your organization. Using VShell's fine-tuned controls, you can specify exactly which files and folders each user and group can access. These virtual directories can span multiple drives on your server yet appear to the user as a set of folders in their home directory when they connect.
If you need to continue to provide FTP for certain customers or systems, SecureFX and the Windows VShell with FTPS edition can secure FTP transfers using TLS-based encryption. VShell's FTPS module provides the same fine-tuned control as SFTP, honoring existing VShell settings for Virtual Roots, Access Control Lists, Connection Filters, Triggers, Deny Host, Logging, and User Database.
SecureFX and VShell also provide great automation capabilities. Using VShell's triggers you can:
SecureFX includes SFXCL, a scriptable command-line utility that allows you to create fully automated, unattended secure file transfers. It's common, for example, to transfer big log files when network traffic is at a minimum — often late at night or in the early morning hours. Use Sfxcl.exe to run a file transfer operation that connects, authenticates, and performs the file transfer using Secure Shell's strong encryption. SFXCL supports multiple file transfer protocols including SFTP, FTP over TLS (FTPS), SCP, and FTP.
VanDyke Software helps you achieve the right balance between strong security and easy access to the network from anywhere... at any time. Take the next step right now:
VShell server, a secure alternative to Telnet and FTP with additional data tunneling services, is a secure portal to a Windows or UNIX server's resources and the network. VShell provides secure authentication, strong encryption, and data integrity using the open Secure Shell protocol (SSH2).
SecureFX is a high-security file transfer client with great flexibility in configuration and transfer protocols. SecureFX includes a command-line utility for scripting batch jobs to perform secure unattended file transfers and also supports "relentless" file transfers that automatically reconnect and resume when connections are broken.
